Contraception and Reliability
Any woman who has sex can get pregnant
No method of contraception is 100% safe. A woman of fertile age can become pregnant when she has sex, even if she is practicing contraception. There is always a residual risk. The best way to avoid an unexpected pregnancy is to learn about all the risks involved with each form of contraception.
The Pearl index assesses the safety
It is perfectly understandable for a woman who wishes to practice contraception to want to search for information in order to compare the success rate of a contraception method with other available alternatives.
The contraceptive effectiveness of a contraception method is indicated by the Pearl index.
When 100 women practice a specific method for a period of one year, the Pearl index indicates how many of them experience an unexpected pregnancy during that year.
If, for instance, a Pearl index of 2 is indicated, this means that statistically there will be two unwanted pregnancies within one year.
It’s up to you!
Every contraception method requires a certain degree of care and attention when it comes to its implementation. And, depending on the contraception method, it is possible to check afterwards with different degrees of success how consistently couples have actually implemented the chosen method successfully.

When it comes to the safety of contraception methods, apples are often compared with pears. Read through the results of the Pearl index to give yourself a better understanding of each method.

Chlamydia infection - the silent epidemic
Many people have chlamydia but only a few are aware of the danger. Women in particular are at risk, especially young women. Because chlamydia infections can go undiagnosed for years without any symptoms, people are rarely aware that they are infected. The long-term damage of Chlamydia is serious and sexual partners are often unintentionally infected.
